The Palantir Mafia is one of the most well known tech groups, and is often called the "Palantir Pack". Before we dive into this group of former employees, let's take a quick look at Palantir.

Officially established in May 2003, Palantir was founded by Peter Thiel, Alex Karp, Joe Lonsdale, Stephen Cohen, and Nathan Gettings.
‍

Quick fun fact: The company's name comes from The Lord of the Rings where the magical palantíri were "seeing-stones."
‍

Early financial support came in the form of $2 million from the US Central Intelligence Agency's venture arm, In-Q-Tel, and an additional $30 million from Founders Fund. Palantir went public in September 2020 at a valuation of $20.6 billion.

The foundational concept for their software stemmed from technology initially created at PayPal to identify and combat fraudulent activities, particularly those carried out by Russian organized crime syndicates.

Affirm is a buy now, pay later service that allows merchants to provide flexible payment plans for their customers.

Affirm was founded in 2012 by Nathan Gettings (co-founder of Palantir), Max Levchin (co-founder of PayPal), Jeff Kaditz, and Alex Rampell.
‍

As of 2023, Affirm has a market cap of $5.39 billion and over 2,071 employees. In April–June 2023, Affirm processed 2.04% of the total US e-commerce payment value, which was $5.5 billion.

We've been keeping an eye on Partiful for a while now, and their growth has been really impressive. We're also huge fans of their colorful branding and design! Partiful helps people create a party page for all types of events, whether it's a house party, dinner, or a rager. The company was founded in 2019 and is headquartered in New York City.

Joy Tao, a former product engineer at Palantir, is a co-founder and CTO of Partiful. Shreya Murthy is the other co-founder and CEO of Partiful. Other members of the Partiful team have backgrounds at Facebook, Snapchat, Lyft, Princeton, Brown, and MIT.

In November 2022, Partiful raised $20 million in a Series A funding round. The round was led by Andreessen Horowitz and Initialized Capital. The deal valued the startup at over $100 million.
