Monzo was co-founded by Tom Blomfield, Jonas Templestein, and Paul Rippon, who came together in 2015 to transform the banking industry. Tom, a graduate of Oxford University with a background in law and a proven track record from co-founding GoCardless, envisioned a customer-first approach to banking that prioritized transparency and simplicity. Jonas, an accomplished software engineer from the University of Technology Sydney, brought the technical expertise needed to build Monzo’s scalable and reliable infrastructure. Paul, with years of leadership experience in traditional banks, provided the regulatory and operational knowledge essential to launching a fully licensed bank, completing a team with diverse yet complementary skills.
Today, Monzo is led by CEO TS Anil, whose extensive experience at Visa, Standard Chartered, and Capital One has equipped him to guide the company through its next phases of growth. Under his leadership, Monzo has continued to innovate and expand while staying true to its mission of making money work for everyone. Anil’s global perspective and expertise in payments and banking have helped Monzo thrive in a competitive fintech landscape, ensuring it remains a leader in digital banking.
